Final blog post

Well, the year is finally over. We all looked forward to the year starting and now were counting down the hours and minutes till it’s over. After exams its official. We will be one grade level closer to graduating. Everyone says they can’t wait till schools starts. Then after the first day, we can’t wait till the next holiday we get off. The good thing about school is friends. I’m with mine as much as possible. The bad thing about school ending is you won’t get to see our friend’s everyday like we’re use to. But, everyone makes plans to see their friends over summer. Summer is a time to make memories with the people you love the most that you’ll never forget.
Blogging wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I was expecting tons of projects and computer homework. But it was nothing like that. Yeah it got boring doing the same thing over and over but I would rather do that than projects. I liked that Mrs. Barnard gave us our independence to do what we liked instead of being assigned a topic that we probably wouldn’t enjoy blogging about.

Prom

I went to go see the movie prom last weekend and I thought it was really good. This girl named nova planned her schools senior prom. Her and her friends mei, ali, Brandon, and rolo have created the perfect prom decorations. Nova has a crush on Brandon and she hopes he will ask her to prom but instead he wants to car pool. But the plans fell through because he went on a college visit the day of their prom. The schools ‘bad boy’ Jesse, has been missing a lot of school lately and behaving badly. The principal has a talk with him but still isn’t happy with his attitude so he tries to find a good punishment for him. Meanwhile, the prom committee, put all the decorations in a shed. But the school ‘jock’ had an idea to ask his girlfriend to prom by arranging all the decorations in the shed with a picnic and lighting candles. But when they left, they accidentally forgot to blow out one of the candles. So the whole shed and all the decorations burned down. The prom committee had to start all over, except everyone but nova was too busy to help. So the principle assigned Jesse to help for his punishment. Nova wasn’t happy about it because she always thought he was a slacker. They would argue the whole time and they didn’t like each other at first. He showed up late everyday and she would yell at him until one day he told her why. It was because he had to pick his brother up from school every day because his mom was working. So after he opened up, they got along and pulled it off. He even went prom dress shopping with her. They ended up really liking each other but he didn’t want to go to prom. So she went to her senior prom alone. But he showed up in the middle of it and surprised her. They ended up together and happily ever after.
On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give this movie an 8.

The Princess Diaries 2

This movie is pretty much just a follow up of the first one. It shows how Mea is handling being a princess. The Genovian law says that she must be married by a certain age. So they have her watch videos of guys that are qualified for her to marry. She picks one, they go on a date, and then soon after that they are engaged. She likes him, and he likes her, but there not in love. She is secretly in love with the grandson of the man who is trying to take over Genovia so he can be king. And he is secretly in love with her too. But there not allowed to date because of his grandfather. So they try to make each other people jealous by dating other people. Then, on her wedding day, she’s walking down the aisle and she calls off the marriage because she doesn’t love him. He was relieved because he didn’t want to marry her either. But the wedding wasn’t a total waste because her grandmother got married to her body guard/limo driver. Since Mea didn’t marry the guy she was suppose to, she was free to date/marry the guy she really wanted. At the end of the movie, her grandmother passes the crown down to her so she is now the queen of Genovia. And she ends up marrying the guy she wanted the whole time.

I liked this movie. Not one of my favorites but it was good.

The Princess Diaries

The princess diaries are so old but I’ve seen it a million times. Its about a girl, mea,  who’s goal in life is to be invisible. She’s kind of a nerd at her private school. All the ‘popular’ kids make fun of her because she doesn’t look a certain way. She never knew her father because he died when she was young. So its just her and her mom. Then, her grandmother from Genovia called out of nowhere and wanted to see her. So she went and had tea with her. At tea, her grandmother told her that she’s a princess by blood because her father was the prince. Most girls would be excited. But mea wasn’t. She didn’t want attention. She said her goal in life was to blend in. no one had ever even mentioned this to her so she was shocked. Her mother and grandmother agreed to tell her when she was 18 but they thought it was the right time to tell her. So she had to attend a ball with her grandmother and so she got a makeover. She got her eyebrows waxed, hair straightened, makeup, and new clothes. Then when her best friend, lily, saw her the next day, she was disappointed because she didn’t know why mea would do that. Then mea finally told her the truth. Lily was so excited. So they went to a ball together when mea excepted the crown. She moved to genovia and lily visited on summers.
I love this movie even though its old.

The Last Song

The last song is about a teenage girl (miley Cyrus) and her little brother who go to visit their dad over summer break. They don’t understand why they’re going all summer. Ronnie really doesn’t want to go. She wants to stay home with her friends. But what they don’t know is that there father has cancer and they don’t know how long he’s going to live. The girl is bitter toward her dad because she doesn’t want to be there and she has to share a room with her little brother. There dad has a house right on the beach. She loves animals and she was trying to save baby turtles when she met, will. Will was making fun of Ronnie for trying to save them and she got annoyed and didn’t like him at first. But then he kept trying to get her attention and they ended up falling in love. They did everything together. Will’s parents didn’t like her at all because she was ‘troubled’. But that didn’t stop them. Then Ronnie found out that her dad had cancer. She grew close to her dad over the summer so it was hard on her. But will was there to help her through it. Ronnie and her dad were always into playing the piano. It was something that helped them get close again. So Ronnie played the piano for her father and when she was done, she realized that her father died while she was playing.
I’ve only seen this movie once but it was good. Even though I don’t like miley Cyrus, she did well in the movie.

M Sisters Keeper

I saw this movie when it first came out with my mom and sister. Its based on a book by Jodi picult. I thought it was really good. I haven’t read the book but my mom and sister both did. They both said they ended different. In the movie, a girl gets leukemia and no one in her family has a blood or bone marrow match to her. She needs bone marrow and blood transfusions regularly. So her parents have another child to match her so she can get what she needs from blood and bone marrow. Then, when the second child is about 12, she sues her parents for rights to her own body. She did this because she knew her sister wanted to die. And this was the only way. So she sued her parents and won. She no longer had to give any of her body to her sister. Her sister and her were very close. The daughter with leukemia pretty much lives in the hospital. In the end, the girl with leukemia ends up dying. Which, is what she wanted because she was so miserable. There’s a lot more to the movie but that’s what it’s based on. I sort of forgot about this movie until just recently. But it’s on my favorites list.

freedom writer

I watched the freedom writers last night and I loved it. The last time I watched it was in 8th grade for our English class. I forgot how good it was and how much I liked it until I watched it last night. It’s about this class of kids who all live troubled lives. They live in the ‘projects’ which is a poor community. Most all of them are involved in gangs and have seen things that scarred them. Such as someone being shot in front of them. Or parents being abused and them see it. And this teacher, Mrs. Gruwell, is a new teacher at their school. It’s her first year and she has no idea what she’s getting herself into. There school is very poor. They don’t have computers and they don’t even get books because the school knows they won’t get them back. And if they do, they’ll be damaged.  So they get thin paperback books. There reading level is the same as elementary students.  Mrs. Gruwell is interested in these students so she gets really into her job. She went out and bought all of them notebooks with her own money. She told them they had to write in it every day and she wouldn’t read it unless they wanted her to. She left a special cabinet open for those who wanted her to read it. And at the end of the day, she checked the cabinet and the entire class put there journals in it. She started to read them and they all wrote about something that has happened in their life that wasn’t good. Like being abused, homeless, and involvement with gangs. She cared for all her students and was willing to do anything to help them. She even got 2 more jobs so she could pay for their books. They all felt close to her because she was the only one in their lives willing to help them. She raised money to take them on a field trip. Everything she was doing for them affected her marriage. She ended up getting divorced. But she kept teaching these kids and helping them until they graduated. This movie is on my top 5 favorites because it’s so inspirational.

Dear John

I went and saw this movie when it first came out. Some of my friends had read the book before the movie came out. They all said the book was better because it gave more detail then the movie showed. I haven’t read the book so I don’t know which I like better. I thought the movie was alright. The beginning was really good then just kind of fell. I was disappointed when she got together with someone else while he was away at war. They met over a summer at the beach. They fell in love over that summer. Then, he had to go back to the military. While he was gone, they barely had any contact except some letters. She married her neighbor who was older than her because he got sick with cancer. she said he was a father figure to her so they were close. He had a son who was about 11 or 12. When he found out he was sick, he asked her to marry him because he wanted her to take care of his son if something were to happen with him because of the cancer. this part didn’t make sense to me because he could have left him to her in his will if he did die. So she told john that she had married someone else in a letter. John was crushed. When he came home he went and visited her. Then both of them went to the hospital and visited her new husband and his son. It was awkward of course but john wasn’t mad at him. A couple months later, her husband passed away from the cancer. So she and john could finally be together. There’s more detail but that’s the main point of the movie. I wasn’t expecting her to marry someone else. I didn’t like that part. But they were together in the end so I guess it was okay. Not a favorite of mine but it was an alright movie.

The Notebook

The notebook is such a cliché- but I love it. I would say it’s in my top 10. I’m almost positive everyone has seen it at least once.  It’s pretty much about this couple that falls in love young. There from two totally different backgrounds. She’s rich. He grew up sort of poor. Her parents didn’t approve of him. So, when she went away to college, they promised to write each other every day. But her mother kept the letters from her so they wouldn’t have any way of communication. It took place a while back so they didn’t have phones yet. So when she went to school to become a nurse she was drafted to be a nurse in war for the soldiers.  A guy that she was taking care of because he was seriously hurt from the war, had asked her out. She said no at first. But after the war was out he went and found her and she said yes.  Needless to say, they fell in love. Then she saw the guy she use to date in the paper. She went and found him. They reconnected and she called off her wedding to be with him. There is much more detail to the movie but that’s the main parts of it. I recommend it.

Hop

I went and saw the movie hop on thursady over break. It just came out recently about a week and a half ago. I went with one of my friends who really wanted to see it. I didn’t so much want to see like she did. But I actually thought it was cute. It was from the makers of alvin and the chipmunks. And I thought you could tell because they were similar and had similar concepts. Hop stayed with a single man probably in his late 20’s just like alvin and the chipmunks did. And at the start of both stories neither ‘owners’ wanted them. I only saw two big differences between the movies. One being that hop was obviously a rabbit and alvin and his brothers were obviously chipmunks. The other was that alvin and the chipmunks sang. Hop didn’t. He was suppose to be the easter bunny but didn’t want to. Over all, it was a good movie.  Although, I don’t think I would want to see it again for awhile.

Taken

I saw this movie about two years ago when it was in movie theaters. I didn't really know what it was going to be about until i watched it. The main story line was that this girl, Kim, went to Paris with her friend, amanda. It was suppose to be like a vaction and they were going to stay with some of amandas family. But their plans changed when they got there. They got off the plane and they met this guy that they were going to share a cab with. But he was actually going to kidnap them, drug them, and force them to be prostitutes. Her dad was on the phone with her while she was being kidnapped. Luckily, her dad was an undercover cop, so he knew what to do. He went to paris to look for the girls. He looked for a couple days and didnt find anything. Then one night, he was in a strip club to look for her to see if she was being forced to prostitute. Which she was. So he found her. But it was too late for her friend, amanda. She was overdosed and died. They went back to there home in the U.S. and tried to lead a normal life. There's much more detail to the movie if you watch it. Its a movie that keeps your interest and i recommend it.

Pixar Films

My favorite pixar film is ratatouille. Its number 4 on the Top 10 Greatest Pixar Films http://listverse.com/2011/03/20/top-10-greatest-pixar-films/.  I watched it in chef call at the begining of the year and really liked it. The main story is that a chef finds a rat in his kitchen and discovers that the rat can cook really good. So the chef and the rat become really good friends. The rat lets the chef take credit for all its cooking. But later in the story everyone finds out that it was really a rat all along and then it creates a health concern for the health department. But  eventually, everything works out and the rat becomes a chef at the end. I recommend this movie.

Elf (:

This is by far, my favorite movie of all times. I watch it all year round not just Christmas. I'm pretty sure everyone has seen this movie at least once. It came out a few years ago but to me, its still a popular movie. Its about this 'elf' named buddy who was raised by elf's but he is actually a human. All the elf's know it but buddy is completely oblivious. So the elf who volunteered to raise him had to break the news to him. Buddy was crushed. Santa told buddy to go to New York where his father worked. But before he went, Santa had to tell him that his father was on the naughty list. Which crushed buddy even more. But buddy went to New York anyways and met his father. When buddy got to the place his father worked, everyone thought he was a singing telegram as a joke because he was still in his 'elf clothes'. Even his father because he didn't even know that buddy existed. When buddy told hid dad that he was his dad, he didn't believe buddy until he showed him a picture of this mother. Buddy's dad didn't want really anything to do with buddy but buddy wanted a relationship with his father. So buddy waited for him to get off work then he followed him back to his apartment. Where buddy learned that he was married with a son. His father wanted him to stay in a hotel but his wife wouldn't allow that and insisted he stay with them. So buddy stayed with them and he loved it. He made them a candy breakfast and showed up at his fathers work again where he was forced to leave because he wouldn't stop bothering them. Buddy ruined one of his important meetings and his father told him to go back to the north pole. So as buddy was leaving, he saw that Santa's sleigh was flying but was having issues. And the sleigh crashed because it lost a part. Buddy went over to Santa and was really excited that he was there. So buddy went looking for that missing part and of course, the news was there and trying to get the story. He found the part and fixed the sleigh and Santa let him and his little brother ride in the sleigh with him. Buddy got married to a girl he met in a department store and they had a baby together. Then they all lived happily ever after :) This movie probably sounds stupid if you've never seen it before, but i really don't think it is. Its definitely a comedy and its probably one of the funniest movies I've seen. I would definitely recommend it.

The Lovely Bones

I watched the lovely bones after homecoming at a friends house. I thought it was creepy. It wasn't an action movie it was a movie where they try to find this girls killer. The girls name is Susie. Shes 14 years old and lives a normal life. Until one day, she was walking home from school and there neighbor, George Harvey, told her that he made his basement a room for neighborhood kids. Once he finally got her to go to his basement with him, she began to feel uncomfortable. But when she tried to leave, he grabbed her arm so Susie elbowed him in the face and ran. While she was gone, her parents began to worry because she wasn't home yet. Her dad went looking for her while her mom stayed home waiting for the police. Susie returns home to find Harvey soaking in a bathtub. She saw her charm bracelet on the sink next to a bloody razor and that's when she figures out that Harvey murdered her. Then shes pulled into a surreal world which is neither heaven or earth. From there on, she watches over her family and friends because shes unable to let go. Her family doesn't know that Harvey is the one who killed her. He kept her body in a safe in the basement.  Jack, Susi's father, is suspicious of Harvey being a suspect. Lindsey, Susie's sister, breaks into Harvey's house looking for evidence. She found a lock of her hair and articles about her murder. She takes the evidence home and shows her grandmother. Harvey is scared of getting caught now because he knew Lindsey had been in his house. So, he leaves, taking Susie's remains with him. Harvey has had other victims, and Susie meets them. She eventually enters heaven and sees that her family is recovering which she calls 'the lovely bones.' I thought the movie was good but confusing at times. Its one of those movies you have to watch a couple times to fully follow it. But i would recommend it to people who like mystery movies.

Beastly

over the weekend, i went to go see the new movie beastly that's out with a couple of my friends. i really liked it a lot and its probably one of my favorite movies if not my first favorite. i think girls would probably like it more than a guy would because it is a love story. on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best, i would give it a 9.5. it would be a perfect 10 but i wanted a better ending. it ended how i wanted it to but i wish they would of shown more of it or made the ending a little longer so we could see how there relationship went and if they lasted or even got married. i think the movie taught a good lesson too. i think it taught people not to judge people based on their looks even though we all do, its human nature. it also taught people that looks aren't everything and there are more important things such as your personality and how you treat other people. because even if you are good looking, no one is going to like you or want to be your friend if your mean to them and everyone else. i would rather be friends with someone who is nice to me and everyone else and may not be 'good looking', rather than someone who is 'good looking' and mean. i would definitely go see it again and recommend it to other people.

alvin and the chipmunks

one of my favorite movies is Alvin and the chipmunks. i saw it 3 or 4 years ago when it first came out with my sister, uncle and cousins. we went Christmas night. i thought it was cute and funny. Theodore is definitely my favorite of the 3. my favorite part of the movie is when one of the chipmunks is in the dish washer taking a shower. i was hoping they would make a second one because i thought it would be really good. then when they did make a second one, i was sort of disappointed with it. i didn't think it was as good as the first because it was mostly about the girl chipmunks and not enough about the original. i did think it was cute still but i favor the first one.

The last movie i watched

the last movie i watched was called ''boggyman''. i watched it with a couple of my friends and we were all disappointed with it. we were at the movie store and got it because it looked scary, but it wasn't. i thought it was hard to follow and nothing happened that tied it all together or made it make sense. they made sequels to it, which i haven't seen. and i probably wont watch them because the first one was disappointed. it was really long too. it seemed like it was never going to end. all of the characters seemed like they were in a daze and all the lighting through the whole movie was dark and rainy. i probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
